Harriet Barash was our dear aunt, wife of my father's brother, William Barash. She resided in New York City during her life and for many decades in Manhattan where she had worked as a buyer in the clothing wholesale industry before her marriage in 1966. She had a wonderful sense of humor that for us (from Pennsylvania) was always the best side of New York. My uncle Bill, her husband, who died several years before Harriet, was a truly original personality, somewhere between Jason Robards in A Thousand Clowns and the actors in Barefoot in the Park. Harriet fit the role perfectly. That was the generation of Bill and Harriet and Manhattan will not be the same without them.
