I am deeply saddened to hear of the death Gerald Walpin. I had the honor of knowing Jerry when he was IG of CNCS and I was IG of GSA. Interacting with Jerry was always an opportunity to learn and a great privilege. Jerry had a remarkable grasp of legal issues, which made talking with him so enjoyable and valuable. He had integrity and always wanted to do the right thing. I will miss him.

During the two years Mr. Walpin was the IG the Office produced a lot of work that improved the agency and the programs. He was hard working, smart and a joy to work with. We are all better off for having knowen him.

I had the privilege of working with Gerald Walpin at the Office of Inspector General, Corporation for National and Community Service. He was a gifted and compassionate leader and mentor who served with the upmost distinction. The Federal government is richer for his contributions and I am enriched from having known him.

We treasure our decades of friendship with Jerry and Sheila and are deeply saddened by Jerry's death. One of Yale Law school's most brilliant and accomplished graduates, Jerry's life and career were stamped with unshakable integrity and unflagging pursuit of truth and justice. His love for Sheila and his family shone forth in our every contact with him. May God rest the soul of this good man.
