We were so sorry to hear about Dan’s passing. I don’t know if he shared this with you, but when Ed was growing up Dan acted as an older brother to him. When Ed was about 4 or 5, Dan went with Ed's family to a farm in upstate New York. Ed was filling a pail with water from a pond, when he lost his balance and fell in. Dan jumped in and saved him! Ed also remembers Dan taking him to a Giant’s baseball game at the Polo Grounds and a Rangers ice hockey game at Madison Square Garden. And, no, Ed doesn't remember who won or who the opponents were, but the experiences remain as fond memories. The family was all proud of Dan when he served in the Army during the Korean War, and one of Dan's fatigue jackets is still Ed's favorite outdoor painting smock. When relocating for work took Ed away from New York, Dan and Ed could not see each other as often as before, but they managed to get together for family gatherings in NY and Boston. We are glad that we were able to visit you in South Florida a couple of years ago and see Dan’s feistiness and spirit in fighting his maladies. He set an example for all of us to follow. He will be missed.
