MILLER—Seymour W., J.D., December 18, 1914—January 25, 2015. Seymour – or “Sy”, as we was known to many of his colleagues and friends throughout his long life – will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather; a successful attorney; a loyal friend; a generous and staunch supporter of the State of Israel; and a forceful and passionate human being. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Claire, as well as by family and friends who were privileged to have known his character, intelligence and humor. He served honorably as an infantryman in the U.S. Army during World War II, rising to the rank of Captain (and later to the rank of Major in the U.S. Army Reserves), having participated in the D-Day landings on the beaches of Normandy as well as the liberation of the Buchenwald concentration camp near Weimar, Germany. His distinguished legal career included serving as General Counsel of the Seafarers International Union before founding as co-Managing Partner the firm of Miller & Seeger, a law practice focusing on corporate commercial transactions and labor relations. During his career, he received numerous awards for professional achievement and charitable service. He was special and will be sorely missed. Memorial services with military honors will be held on Wednesday, January 28th, at 10:30 am at the Riverside Memorial Chapel, 180 West 76th St., New York, NY 10023. Donations in honor of Mr. Seymour W. Miller, Esq. may be made to: The United States Holocaust Museum, 100 Raoul Wallenberg Place Southwest, Washington, DC 20024.
