Alan S. Rosenberg born March 29, 1930 died at his home surrounded by his family on May 15, in Wrightsville Beach, NC. Alan, a native New Yorker and his wife of 51 years, Ilse spent their married life on the Upper West Side of the city they both so dearly loved. Alan was a graduate of Stanford University. He spent what he would describe as the best years of his life in service the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier Midway and in London. Alan practiced law for the majority of his career with the firm Proskaur, Rose, Goetz & Medlesohn where he was known to be able to bring litigious parties together in peaceful, mutually beneficial resolution to problems that were thought to be unresolvable. He was famous for his straight moral compass and unyielding integrity. Alan's tremendous singing voice always entertained friends and family. He was active in promoting arts culture in New York City and numerous other charitable activities. He is preceded in death by only two months by his adoring wife of 51 years and survived by two loving sons and devoted daughter-in-law, two grandchildren, Adam and Chelsea who were the loves of his life and his best friend and sister Yvette. Alan will be sorely missed for his ever present sense of humor, his unflappable optimistic outlook on life and his wise counsel. A funeral service for Alan will be held on Tuesday, May 19 at Riverside Memorial Chapel with graveside service to follow.
