Ralph Hittman, born October 10, 1918, died peacefully at home on December 8, 2015 at the age of 97. Born and raised on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, Mr. Hittman served as a noncommissioned officer in the US Marine Corps during the second World War. He had a lifelong affiliation with Boys Brotherhood Republic of New York City, having participated in its programs as a boy. In his forty-three years as executive director, Mr. Hittman oversaw the operation of Camp Wabenaki and the construction of a new BBR City Hall at 888 East Sixth Street. He was married to and is survived by his wife of 75 years, Rose (Bader) Hittman, and was a loving father to sons, Michael, Jeffrey, and Stephan, as well as a doting grandfather to Julie, Eliza, and Gianna, and great-grandfather to Nathaniel, Louisa and Jonas. He impacted the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
