Philip Alpert passed away Saturday January 30th from heart failure. Born Bronx NY January 21, 1926 to Russian Jewish immigrants, the third of four sons. Drafted into the army in 1944, he marched across France and into Germany from December 1944 to April 1945, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was scheduled to be deployed to Japan when the war ended. He left the military and attended college at Adelphi University under the GI bill. Afterwards he got his masters degree in economics from Columbia University. He met his wife Louise, on a boat to Europe in 1951. In 1961, he enrolled in computer classes, and became an early programmer and systems analyst. He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Lori, Wendy and Tracy; one granddaughter, Aurelia; and his brother Murray.
