Martha Oremland October 20th, 2015- May 12, 2016 Martha Helen Weingarten, Oremland lived deep into her 101’st year. She savored life, especially her two marriages, first with Harold then with Ben. She loved and was devoted to her two sons Randy and Jon Weingarten, and all her daughter-in-laws: Elizabeth, and Susan; (Linda and Patty). She relished being with her beloved sister Adele Eisenberg, and with her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Betty and Arthur Goodman and their children. Peter and Jaye. She genuinely cared for Jill and Wendy Weingarten as Children of Bernie and Donna Weingarten. In her last years, she grew especially close to her niece, Melinda, Adele’s daughter and her husband Norman and their children Michael and Wendy Friedman. Martha lovingly embraced her 4 grandchildren Hilary & Kai, Jason & his wife Michelle, and Leigh Ann and her fiancé Jon, along with her 3 great grandchildren: Erin, Amy and Xuan. Martha prized her beauty, intelligence, and desire to teach English literature. She grew up in Flatbush, Brooklyn, majored in Math at Adelphi college. married and moved to Manhattan. After years of early marriage childbearing, and devoted friendships, she obtained a certificate from Teacher’s College., Columbia University and continued PhD studies. She went on to become Head of the English Department at Franklin School, in NYC. Widowed in her 60’s she was fortunate to remarry with Ben Oremland,. They lived harmoniously in Bal Harbour,Fl. and traveled the world together. Family gatherings during their summers in Woodstock, Vt. were one of the shared joys of all. In the last years of her life, she had devoted care-givers who helped her in countless ways. Martha leaves behind a legacy of spirit. Unique memories of her will remain vivid throughout our lives. Clouds part, light cascades all around. A leaf joins the current of the river. Randy & Jon
