Ivan Mogull. March 21, 1924 - January 21, 2017. Resident of NYC and Remsenberg, L.I. Ivan was a bright and bold note in the world of music in the legendary Brill Building at 1619 Broadway. He began his career in his teens when he joined the army during World War II. Despite not being able to read a note of music or play an instrument he organized and led a band which toured army bases throughout the world. During his seven decades of music publishing he was a friend and associate to a great many luminaries, including Nat "King" Cole, Vic Damone, Jose Feliciano, Nina Simone, ABBA, and Julio Iglesias. He was active in the business until the end of his life as a consultant to The Orchard, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment. Charming, irrepressible, often audacious, always much loved and always loving, he lived his whole life with joy and energy. There will be a big hole in the hearts and lives of his legions of family and friends. His beloved wife, Marcia, died in 2010. He is survived by his sons, David and Peter, David's wife, Radka, his grandchildren Sebastian, Bianca, and Maximus, and three generations of other family members. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation http://www.louisarmstrongfoundation.org/contribute.php to support their programs at Columbia University and Beth Israel Medical Center.
