Janet Leslie Daniels, Esq (nee Friedell). - New York, NY, March 29,1943-March 4, 2017; Daughter of Dr. and Mrs. H.L. Friedell, Shaker Hts., OH. Sister of Carol F. Baird, Richmond, VA and the late Dr. Richard A. Friedell , Shaker Hts., OH. Survived by her sister-in-law and four beloved nieces and nephews
Ms. Daniels moved to New York City because she could not stand getting The Times a day late in her native Ohio. She was a lover of all things New York, as well as her beloved Masai Mara in Kenya where she traveled frequently for the last 30 years. It became her second home. Ms. Daniels had a long career as Regulatory Counsel at the New York Stock Exchange and later FINRA. It was with a fierce strength of spirit she navigated life: starting with her unique upbringing by a veteran of the Manhattan Project, to providing shade for cheetahs in the Mara, sharing a seat on a fallen log with a silverback gorilla during a trip to Uganda, and drinking wine with friends in the city.
She also shared a loving relationship with her nieces and nephews, and with great joy, she was recently introduced to her grand-niece, allowing her to affectionately refer to herself as "Great Aunt Janet". She pursued grace throughout a 35-year battle with cancer.
