CARMODY--Esther Neale, 69, on May 14, after a valiant battle with cancer. Esther leaves behind her devoted husband Paul, adoring daughter Yana, grandson Gabe, son-in-law Dennis, sister Olga and her extended family, the Zilbergs. Born in Riga, Latvia, Esther became fluent in four languages and went on to become a beloved and distinguished Professor of Linguistics at the University of Riga. Battling religious discrimination, in 1979 she decided that in order to give her daughter opportunities and a life free from the same restrictions she battled, Esther organized and moved her entire family to the U.S. She rose to become CFO of a large printing company and later dedicated herself to becoming an accomplished Argentine tango dancer, a model and an actress, all while continuing to be a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her greatest accomplishment was the love and generosity she showered on her family and friends, which knew no bounds with those she loved. Her family wishes to thank Maura Del Bene, NP, and the nurses and staff of Westchester/Putnam VNS for the skillful and compassionate care they provided Esther in the final days.
